As the COVID-19 pandemic weaves its destructive path across the globe, there has been a curious situation of lower than expected confirmed cases in Africa. However, the continent’s economies face the grim prospects of a simultaneous collapse in demand, reduced export income and capital flight. Join us in an online conversation with Africa’s heroic impact investors, market builders and social entrepreneurs who have risen to the occasion to help prevent the continent’s economic dynamism from faltering.  The webinar takes place Tue, May 12, 12 - 1pm EDT (NYC time).

The session will unpack how investors and entrepreneurs are shifting gears to realize both positive social impact and financial return.  Themes to be addressed include:

  • Amanda Cotterman, Managing Partner, EquaLife Capital, Africa's first venture-debt fund, and EquaLife Advisory Services, hands-on strategic and financial management support to start-ups and SMEs throughout the region. Amanda's focus is on building and investing in businesses catering to emerging middle-class consumers in East Africa.
  • Kwame Marfo, Managing Partner, Africa Empowerment Fund and Chair of Investment Committee, Diaspora Capital. Kwame is an impact investor and social entrepreneur with investments across agribusiness, real estate, technology and media sectors
  • Esther Ndeti, Executive Director, East Africa Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EAVCA), a firm that raises awareness and engages on regional policy matters on behalf of investors as well as the mobilization of capital flows in East Africa. Esther has a proven track record of success in the region’s investment & SME sector with a focus on program management, fundraising, and business development.
